Supt. David Howard Jr. was born on June 13, 1937 to the parents of Pator David and Ora Howard Sr. in Slaughter, Mississippi. Supt. Howard Jr. is the eldest son of four brothers and six sisters and was raised in a God fearing home which was the foundation of his relationship with Christ. His father, Supt. David Howard Sr. pastored three churches in Mississippi where Supt. David Howard Jr. accepted Christ into his life as a child. He received the Holy Ghost at the age of 16, and began preaching at the age of 17.

Supt. David Howard Jr. attended West Tallahassee High school where he received his Diploma. Due to the unrest of the south, Pastor David Howard Sr. decided to move his entire family to Warren, Ohio to escape the dangers that plague African Americans. After relocating to Ohio, Supt. David Howard Jr. went on to further his education at Century Bible College in Cleveland, Ohio and Church of God in Christ pastoral Institute of Philadelphia, PA where he received certificate of completion. In recent years Supt. David Howard Jr., attended International College of Bible Theology where he received his Associate of Bible Theology.

Supt. David Howard Jr. would continue his walk with the Lord, and was ordained as an elder in 1954 under his fathers leadership. In 1960 Pastor David Howard Sr. founded St. James Church of God in Christ where Supt. David Howard Jr. stood by his father’s side and served faithfully as Assistant Supt. until 1976. St. James Church of God in Christ would become a prominent haven of peace, healing and restoration. Supt. Howard Jr. went on to make his mark in the body of Christ by serving as President and Vice President of the Trumbull County Ministerial Alliance. Supt. David Howard Jr. also served as the President of the Ohio Northwest COGIC and was a member of the Rainbow Coalition.

In 1976, Supt. David Howard Jr. accepted the greatest position under the move of God as successor of the honorable Bishop R.L. Chapman, as pastor of the greater Hiawatha Church of God in Christ. In the same year, he also was appointed District Supt. of the Tri County District and later as Chairman of the board. Supt. David Howard Jr. and the beautiful First Lady Louise Howard served faithfully, diligently, and tirelessly as Sheppard over Gods house for 35 years along with their children David L Howard III, Dennis Howard, and Valentheia Howard. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.
